Lessons

Ski and snowboard lessons are available for all ages and abilities. If you are just starting out, we have the best beginner terrain around with our three easy to use carpet lifts and large Bunny Hills. And if you already know how to ski or snowboard, our certified and professional instructors will work with you to improve your skills on our more advanced runs and chairlifts.

Age groups

Share the magic of skiing and snowboarding with your child and join our Parents and Tots program for 3 and 4 year olds. This one-hour three-day class is offered on Saturdays, Sundays and during the holidays and is designed to introduce your child to the sport of skiing or snowboarding with their favorite teacher ... you! Of course, we will also have one of our professional instructors with the class to help guide you. One parent must accompany every tot and the parent should be at a blue level of skiing or snowboarding. Parents can either bring their own equipment or rent ours for $42 for the three lesson session.

Parents and Tots classes are available during the holidays and on three consecutive Saturdays or Sundays from 1:45pm to 2:45pm.

Ski classes

Our Mogul Mites and Meisters ski program is for children aged 5 and 6 years old of all abilities; from never ever skiied to already a whiz on the chairlift. Most classes begin on our large Bunny Hill with our two easy-to-use carpet lifts.

Mogul Mites is for children who are just starting out or who are still more comfortable using the Bunny Hills. It is a 60 minute class and you can register in as many one-day classes as you wish throughout the winter. Class sizes are a maximum of 4 children per instructor which will ensure that your child has both individual attention and guaranteed FUN!

Mogul Meisters is for advanced 5 and 6 year olds who are ready for the chairlift or are already using the chairlift. Class sizes for Mogul Meisters are a maximum of 3 children per instructor. Note that if your child is not ready for the chairlift and the ski runs off of the chairlift, they should be registered in the Mogul Mites class.

If you have never skied before, then our Discover program is the one to start out with. Discover classes are one-hour each for three weeks in a row, either on weekends or on weeknights. There is also a two lesson program available over the Teachers Convention. There are a maximum of 5 people per instructor so you will have lots of individual attention to introduce you to the sport of skiing, get comfortable with the equipment and get you up our carpet lifts and down on our easy Bunny Hills.

The Green ski class is right for you if

  • You have taken a set of Discover classes or are comfortable skiing on our Bunny Hill or on the Bunny Hills at other local or mountain hills.
  • You can use our carpet lifts and you may even have ridden the chairlift and skied down the Green runs from the chair.
  • You can skate up small hills, get up from a fall, turn both directions and stop at will using the snowplow or even matching skis to turn and stop.

You should register in the Blue ski class if

  • You can use the carpet lifts, the Porcupine handle tow and the chair lifts safely.
  • You can control your speed, change your direction and make turns around obstacles.
  • You have used or are ready to use ski poles.
  • You are comfortable on all our Green runs.

You should register in the Black ski class if

  • You are confident on our Blue runs.
  • You can effectively use poles, perform hockey stops, and side slip on steep terrain.
  • You can match skis through all your turns and you are comfortable on our Black level runs.

Snowboard classes

You are never too young to start snowboarding. Our Ridge Riders class will introduce your child to the fun sport of snowboarding and is for children ages 5 and 6 years old. Class sizes are a maximum of 4 children per instructor which will ensure that your child has both individual attention and guaranteed FUN! You are of course welcome to be close by if they need a little extra support.

If you've never snowboarded before, then our Discover snowboard class is the one to start out with. Discover classes are one-hour each for three weeks in a row, either on weekends or on weeknights. There is also a two lesson program available over the Teachers Convention. There are a maximum of 4 people per instructor so you will have lots of individual attention to introduce you to the sport of snowboarding, get comfortable with the equipment and get you up our carpet lifts and down on our easy Bunny Hills.

The Green snowboard class is right for you if

  • You have taken a Discover level snowboard class or are comfortable snowboarding on our Bunny Hill or on the Bunny Hills at other local or mountain hills.
  • You can use our carpet lifts easily and you may even have ridden the chairlift and snowboarded down the Green runs from the chair.
  • You can skate and climb, get up unassisted, do a straight run on the hills, do toe and heel drags, side slip toe and heel side, and do heelside stops.

You should register in the Blue snowboard class if

  • You can use the carpet lifts, the Porcupine handle tow and the chair lifts safely.
  • You can perform toe side stops, link beginner turns, manage your speed and direction, use your lower body to turn, and are starting to use flexion and extension before your turns.
  • You are comfortable on all our green runs.

You should register in the Black class if

  • you are confident on all our Blue runs.
  • You can make turns using flexion and extension, link intermediate turns, manage your speed, perform turns over rolling terrain and carve your turns.
  • You can do sliding 360s and complete small safe jumps.
Parent Tickets

While your children are in lessons, why not ski or ride for the day. Take advantage of our parent ticket and rental price which makes it much more affordable to ski while your kids are in their class. Lift tickets are only $20 while ski or snowboard rentals are also only $20. And best of all, the lift ticket and rentals are good for the whole day and for all lifts. Pick yours up at reception when you get your kids lesson ticket. Note that parent tickets are for Mom and/or Dad only and not for other family members.

Renting Equipment

If you are renting equipment, please make sure that your Sunridge account is up-to-date with correct names, ages, weights, shoe size and dates of birth. Your online equipment rental waiver must also be completed before you come out for your lesson. When you arrive at the hill, your rentals will be set and waiting for you. Rentals include skis or snowboard, boots, a helmet and poles (for students in the ski Blue or Black class).

Make-up Classes

Make-up classes are only offered for our group lesson programs if we cancel the class due to extreme cold weather or other adverse conditions. If you miss a class due to illness or a scheduling conflict, no make-up lesson will be provided but the value of the missed lesson will be credited to your account.
